Circa 1993, I did a lot of experimental photography using techniques similar to those of Man Ray among others. I projected a colorful abstract painting of mine over myself in various poses or did slow exposure photographs with blurs and multiple images. I was the only model (if you can spot the figures in camouflage) except for my artist friend Laurie Sheridan who appears occasionally. These photos or photo collages served as references for approximately 35 paintings in acrylic. This overall project lasted about a year. Finding very limited exhibition opportunities and few sales per this body of work, I moved on into a steady stream of more conventional commissions. I still have almost all of this work in storage. I was a care giver for my dying father at the time and some strong emotions flow through these unusual images.
